Brief CV

Graduate in Geography (1973) and Doctor in Geography for the University of Barcelona (1978). From 1987 he is professor senior of university of human geography. In 1996 was invested Doctor Honoris Causa in Social Sciences for the Technological University of Andes (Abancay, Apurimac, Peru). He has been devoted to the analysis of the rural world and their territorial and socio-economic changes, the effects of the tourism on the territory and the society and at the moment to the study of new tourisms and of the migratory models from 'New Florida' and 'New California.' Their work is formed for more than a hundred of articles published in regional, national and foreign different scientific review and books, as well as a considerable number of invited reports and papers presented in more than 180 national and/or international congresses, seminars and/or workshops. It has been main researcher of different research projects of Dirección General de Investigación, Ciencia y Tecnología del MEC In the 2002 it was granted as main research the Research Prize of Sa Nostra-2002 in the topic of the immigration of foreigners in Balearic Islands. It is part of different network of experts and between their tasks it highlights the participation in the Commission on the problem of the European Islands attributed to the General Direction of Agriculture of European Union and in the European project 'Suds i illes mediterrànnes. It has coordinated the group of tourism of the program of Human Capital and Mobility of U.E 'Suds europeens: de l'assistence a l'iniciative', It has been part of the research group on 'Tourism and Migration: New Relationships between Production and Consumption' (IGU) and 'European Dimensions of Changing Retirement: The Life Experiences of Older People Living Abroad' and 'International Migration in Europe: Welfare policy and practice implications for older people' financed by the research program of European Science Foundation
