Brief CV

Margalida M. Socías Colomar received her Ph.D. at the University of Barcelona (UB) in 1990. Previously she had obtained the Degree of Romance Philology (Spanish Literature) and a Teaching Degree. She is Professor Emerita at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) since 2012, where she teaches some courses at the Modern Languages and Literature postgraudate program (Master).

Her research focused on spanish literature of eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries, taking a special interest in authors and themes related to the cultural life of Mallorca.. She dedicated some studies to other research lines, like the role of women in modern and contemporary spanish literature. She also belongs to the research group 'Travel stories and insular myth. The voyage to the Balearic Islands'.
