Born in Palma in 1962, she has a PhD in Physics from the Universitat de les Illes Balears, where she had studied mathematics (1980-81), chemistry (1981-82) and physics (1982-86), in the latter case with the prize extraordinary degree of the first promotion. She completed postdoctoral training at the Institut des Sciences NuclÚaires in Grenoble, France (1990-91). She has been accredited in the C2 level (proficiency) of competence in the Catalan language.
She worked at the UIB as an operator, programmer and analyst at the Computer Center -the current CTI- (1986-89), assistant to the Physics Department (1989-91) and interim professor (1991-93). She is a Senior Lecturer of Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics since 1993 and has been recognized with the maximum number of teaching five-year periods (six).
As a member of the Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics research group between 1987 and 2012, she is the co-author of some eighty scientific papers, most of them published in international journals and recognized with three research six-year periods. Since 2013 she is the researcher in charge of the Health at Work (Occupational Risk Prevention) research group.
She has held the positions of secretary of the Faculty of Sciences (1995-99), head of studies in Physics (1998-2000), dean of the Faculty of Sciences (1999-2007), general director of University in the Department of Education and Culture of the Government of the Balearic Islands (2007-11), president of the University Quality Agency of the Balearic Islands (2007-11), director of the UIB's own Prevention Service -including the medical unit- (2011-13), president of the Biosafety Committee (2014-18) and deputy director of the Master in Occupational Health (2011-19). Since 2018 she is the secretary of the Faculty of Medicine.
