Brief CV

Xavier Barcelˇ holds a degree in Catalan by the UIB, a BA in Hispanic Studies from the University of Sheffield, an M. Phil. in Hispanic Studies from the University of Sheffield. He currently participates in Research & Development project on Catalan literature, as part of the team led by Dr. Margalida Pons. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Urban Studies Island.

His research areas are contemporary Catalan literature, especially contemporary Mallorcan fiction, island studies, the Cyberliterature and photography. He teaches contemporary narrative in the Catalan Language and Literature degree and has published two books: Hist˛ria, mem˛ria i mite a la narrativa d'Antoni Mus and Literatura sense papers: escriptures, art i entorn digital, the latter as an editor. He has written over twenty articles and book chapters published worldwide.

He is currently finishing his doctoral thesis, which studies the representation of Otherness Majorcan novel and its relationship to mobility.
