Raquel Herranz Bascones

Born in Málaga (Andalucía, Spain). B.A. in Business Administration (Universidad de Málaga, 1984), and PhD in Business and Economics (Universitat de les Illes Balears UIB, 2003).

During the exercise of her professional activity, she was responsible for corporate finance and accounting departments in some business companies.

She joined the UIB (1994) as University College Lecturer (1994-2007) and as Full Professor of Financial Economics and Accounting (2007-nowadays), both at the Business Department. She has been Assistant Manager at the Faculty of Tourism (2000-2007) and Vice-Chancellor for Infrastructure and Operations (2007-2013).

Her teaching experience includes studies of diploma, graduates and postgraduates in the areas of Business Accounting and, Non-Profit Accounting. In these areas she has published as co-author several theoretical and practical university textbooks by national publishers, like Financial Accounting, el Modelo Contable Básico, el Plan General de Contabilidad, la Contabilidad de las Entidades sin Fines Lucrativos, or la Contabilidad de la Empresa Turística.

Her research interests include the accounting and economic aspects of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's), Non-Profit Organization (NPO's) and Solidary or Social Economic Entities, with the publication as author of two specialized books, book sections, journal articles and national and international papers. She was awarded with the prize Premi d'investigació de la Direcció General de Cooperació de la Conselleria de Presidència i Esports del Govern de les Illes Balears (2005).

Member of the Comisión de entidades sin fines lucrativos of the Asociación Española de Contabilidad y Administración de Empresas (AECA).
