What is it?

The goal of the degree programme in psychology is to train versatile competent professionals who promote and improve people's quality of life in all of the areas detailed in the future law that establishes the competencies that psychology graduates will obtain.

Another objective of the programme is to prepare graduates to be able to access postgraduate programmes in both health and clinical areas, e.g., the officially recognized master's degree in General Health Psychology, as well as in the areas of educational, occupational, organisational, and social work.

What will you learn?

The main objective of the degree programme in psychology is to train professionals with the basic scientific knowledge necessary to understand, interpret, analyse, and explain human behaviour, and the basic skills and abilities needed to evaluate and intervene in the on the social and individual level throughout the different stages of life in order to promote and improve health and the quality of life.

What will you be able to do once you finish?

Psychology has very broad potential professional pathways since, thanks to its knowledge basis of human behaviour, its involvement is demanded in many social and business areas. Here are some of the most common pathways, based on the professional profiles set out by the Spanish Psychological Association (COP):

  1. Clinical and health psychology
  2. Educational psychology
  3. Industrial and organisational psychology
  4. Legal psychology
  5. Physical activity and sports psychology
  6. Psychology and social intervention
  7. Psychology in drug addiction
  8. Traffic and safety psychology

It is important to mention that the degree in psychology, although not enabling the practice of a regulated profession, as there is no legal order that provides the programme with professional credentials, does lead to two regulated professions in the framework of the "Healthcare Professions Law" which require professionals to have completed this degree in order to become a:
  • Clinical Psychologist, via the PIR exam (Resident Intern Psychologist), more information is available, in Spanish, here: training plan.

High-quality official study

Legislation requires that official Spanish Degrees receive positive evaluations by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). This process is called verification, and it serves to ensure that the development programme in which you will participate will provide the skills and learning results that it is supposed to.
