Brief CV

Sarah-Louise Flowers is an assistant lecturer and doctoral candidate at the department of nursing and physiotherapy at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB). She teaches hands-on, practical skills for studnet nurses to compliment their theoretical learning. She is currently undertaking her doctorate in Global helath, with a particular focus on compassion, nurses' inner resources and how to combat professional burnout. Sarah-Louise has a background in social anthropology (at the University of St Andrews, Cambridge) and nursing (University of Manchester and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) where she explored the cultural aspects of understanding the body, illness, maternity and disease prevention. She has ten years of nursing experience in the private and public sector in both Spain and the United Kingdom. Her last clinical role was as a palliative care specialist nurse in London.
