Brief CV
Luca is a visiting professor at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).
His main area of expertise is Macro-Financial Econometrics with an interest in analyzing alternative Big Data and Machine Learning Methods for Economic Forecasting and Nowcasting. His research has been published in the International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society - Series A, and Journal of International Money and Finance among others.
Before joining the UIB, he worked as a researcher at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. He was part of the "Big Data and Forecasting Economic Developments" project in the Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) and the Nowcasting team of the Economic and Financial Resilience Unit. He also served as an adjunct professor in Econometrics at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. He was a researcher and teacher in Mathematics and Monetary Economics at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, adjunct professor in Quantitative Methods at the IESEG School of Management, a researcher at the Central Bank of France and CEPII (the leading French Center for research and expertise on the world economy).
Luca holds a PhD in Management Sciences (with specialization in Financial Econometrics) from the University of Paris Dauphine.
