Brief CV
PhD in Humanistic Studies (Language, Literature and Culture program) from the same university, with the dissertation 'L'estructura argumental dels noms en català'. She also holds an MA in Catalan Language, Literature and Culture (URV), a postgraduate degree in Teaching Catalan as an Additional Language (UAB), a postgraduate degree in Forensic Linguistics: Legal and Judicial Language (IDEC-UPF), a postgraduate degree in Forensic Linguistic Expertise (IDEC-UPF), and and a master's degree in Teaching at Compulsory Secondary Education, Sixth Form, Vocational Training and Language Teaching.
Prior to joining the UIB, Elga Cremades worked as an assistant professor (odborná asistentka) of Catalan linguistics at Masaryk University in Brno, and as an instructional assistant professor of Catalan studies at the University of Chicago. Previously, she had worked as an adjunct professor at Rovira i Virgili University.
Her research focuses on Catalan syntax, teaching of Catalan as an additional language and clinical linguistics. In syntax, she has focused her research on argument structure on the one hand, and the dynamics between prescriptive grammar and descriptive grammar on the other. Regarding the teaching of Catalan as an additional language, her interests are, basically, new teaching and learning methodologies, as well as learner corpus research. Finally, in clinical linguistics, she is currently interested in the description of syntax in speakers with Williams syndrome.
