Brief CV
Dr. Laglera Baquer is BA and PhD in Marine Sciences currently appointed professor at the UIB in the area of Analytical Chemistry (Department of Chemistry). He was postdoctoral student at the Universities of Liverpool and Geneva and previously, a researcher of the Ramón y Cajal program at the UIB. He has 5 five-year recognized teaching periods and 3 six-year recognized research periods.
His research is about Chemical Oceanography focusing in the biogeochemical cycles of trace elements in natural waters. Specifically, in the use of electrochemical, chemiluminescent and spectroscopic techniques in the study of the chemical speciation of iron, copper, mercury, lead and cadmium in natural waters and their influence on the toxicity and bioavailability of these elements. He often collaborates with the global GEOTRACES program. He is the author of 48 peer reviewed articles and has an h-index of 21.
Dr. Laglera belongs to the FI-TRACE research group.
