Brief CV
Juan José Montaño Moreno (1970) is full professor lecturer attached to the Area of Methodology of Behavioral Sciences of the Department of Psychology of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He has an extraordinary undergraduate award and an extraordinary doctorate award in Psychology with the thesis Artificial neural networks applied to data analysis (2002).
He has been granted three research sections by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI) corresponding to the periods 2001-2006, 2008-2013 and 2014-2019.
He is the principal investigador (PI) of the research group of Statistical and Psychometric Procedures Applied in Health Sciences of the Institute of Health Research of the Balearic Islands (IdISBA). He is a member of the research group in Data Analysis (GRAD), a member of the Laboratory of Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Family Guidance, and a member of the Research and Educational and Social Training group (GIFES) of the UIB.
He is an associate editor of the journal Clínica y Salud: Investigación Empírica en Psicología, indexed in the JCR database.
His research career, over the last 30 years, has been focused on the development and application of scientific methodology and advanced statistical procedures in the field of Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences and Health Sciences. He has focused his attention on the application of statistical modeling, artificial neural networks (ANN), data mining, survival analysis, and time series analysis.
He has held the following academic positions at the UIB: director of the European Convergence Office (2006-2008), associate vice-chancellor for Academic Organization and European Convergence (2008-2011), vice-chancellor for Teaching and Quality (2011-2012), vice-chancellor for Academic Organization (2012-2013), academic director of the University School of Tourism of the Consell Insular d'Eivissa (2011-2013) and director of the Department of Psychology of the UIB (2013-2015). Likewise, he has been general director of University Policy and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and University of the Government of the Balearic Islands (2015-2019). He is currently the dean of the Faculty of Psychology at the UIB.
