Brief CV
Currently Professor of the Department of Biology, in the area of Botany, I was also during a few years an associate professor at the University of Valencia.
I worked as a botanist on the cataloging of ancient roads and on the catalogue of the dry stone buildings and terraced areas of the Serra de Tramuntana (Mallorca Island), hired by FODESMA (Consell Insular de Mallorca). I also worked on projects about Balearic threatened flora hired by the Conselleria de Medi Ambient of the Balearic Government.
My formation as a botanist goes through an initial stage devoted to the study of the Balearic silicicolous lichens, then specialized and performed the doctorate dissertation in the taxonomic study of the endemic vascular flora of the archipelago in 1994. From my PhD, the research has focused on aspects related to this floristic component.
The lines in which I recently worked have in common research on different aspects of the Island plant endemism; for example I have participated in projects and published works about ecology and reproductive biology, on the conservation and protection of endangered endemic species, genetic diversity and description of new taxa.
I collaborate with local and international entities involved in aspects of conservation of Balearic flora, as the Species Survival Commission of UICN, the Botanical Gardens of Soller and Valencia, the Balearic Natural History Society and the Conselleria de Medi Ambient of the Balearic Government.
