Brief CV

Aleix Calveras is Full Professor at the Department of Business Economics, University of the Balearic Islands. He holds a PhD in Economics (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). He has been visiting pre-doctoral researcher at IDEI (Toulouse, 1997), and visiting researcher at The University of EDinburgh (2020), CSEF (Italy, 2000), and at Pompeu Fabra University (2007).

He is a researcher specialized in Industrial Organization and Business strategy, in general, and in Corporate Social Responsibility and the Economics of Tourism, in particular. In his research, he pays special attention to the role that the available information in markets has on firm behavior and business strategy. Although his research is predominantly theoretical, he recently carries out empirical work, alone or in collaboration. His articles have been published in national and international journals such as the Journal of Economics & Management Strategy, the Journal of Regulatory Economics, SERIES: Journal of the Spanish Economic Association, Spanish Economy Papers, Tourism Economics, International Journal of Tourism Research and Investigaciones Económicas , among others. For the diffusion and presentation of his research, he regularly participates in the following conferences: Symposium on Economic Analysis, Jornadas de Economía Industrial, ACEDE Congress, EARIE, EEA, IATE (Tourism Economics), among others.

He teaches and has taught graduate and undergraduate courses on Business Strategy, Corporate Social Responsibility, Tourism Economics and Business, International Business, and Business Economics.

He has been Chair of the Scientific and Organizing Committee of the Jornadas de Economía Industrial held at the UIB (Palma, September 2016). He has been a Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the UIB (2008/2009), and director of the postgraduate degree in Corporate Social Responsibility (2008 - 2011), and in Business Management at the UIB.
