New student profile and admission criteria

The Academic Committee of the Master's programme will assess each applicant's eligibility for the programme. Students' CVs and a letter of interest will be considered, and an ordered list of candidates will be created based on the following criteria:

  • Academic transcript,
  • Professional experience,
  • Publications in specialized journals,
  • Scholarships awarded,
  • Participation in congresses, and
  • Other academic merits.

 

Academic and professional goals

 

Objectives
  • Analyse the possibilities that information and communication technology offer for constructing and managing knowledge, and address the impact that related advances have on e-learning.
  • Identify the pedagogical foundations for designing media based on the theories and strategies of the teaching-learning process in e-learning. 
  • Obtain the abilities necessary to design multimedia for use in education.
  • Analyse the possibilities offered by information and communication technology for multimedia applications and teaching.
  • Structure and develop multimedia teaching materials designed for specific audiences.
  • Know and understand the set of parameters that define the process of digitalization and reproduction of educational material. 
  • Acquire the competences and abilities to be able to handle information and knowledge.
  • Determine the economic feasibility of a multimedia project.
  • Come up with a practical application of designing materials and/or learning environments.
  • Become familiar with research methodologies in the field of educational technology.
Basic competences

This Master's programme offers two pathways; one is career focused, and the other serves as an introduction into the doctoral programme and is focused on research.

Career options for graduates from the professional pathway include designing and developing e-learning projects, managing virtual campuses and training services, designing and creating training materials, providing technical and teaching guidance, and managing information and knowledge.

The field of work around which the professional profile is designed is related to:

  • the business world: human resources departments, information and communications companies, businesses that create and edit multimedia, businesses that train people to design and develop IT projects and programmes, training, guidance, needs assessments, etc.
  • the world of training: management and organization of IT resources, design and development of e-learning projects and programmes, teaching, etc.

Career options for graduates from the research pathway include designing and developing research projects in the field of educational technology, managing research projects in the field of e-learning, designing and developing fundamental research projects and R&D projects, and providing technical and teaching guidance for research projects in the field of educational technology.

The field of work around which the research profile is designed is related to:

  • the world of research: IT and educational administrative departments, R&D departments involving information and communications, businesses that create and edit multimedia, university departments in the field of educational sciences, educational research institutes, design and development of IT projects and programmes, training, guidance, needs assessments, etc.
  • the world of training: design of projects for managing and organizing IT resources, analysis and assessment of the quality of e-learning projects and programmes, teaching, etc.

The study programme is structured around three mandatory subject areas worth 9, 6, and 15 credits (30 credits in total).

Final Exam

There is no final exam.

Evaluation criteria and exams

Students will be evaluated under a system of continuous assessment. No exams will be carried out; rather evaluation will take place throughout the teaching of the course.
