Brief CV

Dr. Gemma Turnes is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry of the Department of Chemistry of the University of the Balearic Islands(UIB) and main researcher of the materials chemistry group (MATER). At present, she is also Director of the Department of Chemistry and deputy director of the Laboratory of Environmental Analytical Chemistry of the UIB.

Her research is focused on the synthesis and characterization of porous solids (especially zeolites, metallo-organic frameworks and porous carbons), and hybrid materials derived from them (membranes, sponges, 3D-printed supports, etc.), for gas storage, catalysis and environmental pollutants extraction.

She has co-authored more than 100 publications in international scientific journals of Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Surface Chemistry and Catalysis (h index: 35). She has participated and led several research projects obtained in competitive calls (european, national and regional) as well as in various R&D contracts. She has advised eight master's degree projects and seven doctoral theses and is currently directing two master's projects and four doctoral theses.
