Curriculum

Brief CV

I have a degree in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a PhD in Biology from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). My thesis defended in 2003 and with an outstanding score 'Cum Laudem' was directed by Dr. Medrano and addressed the effects of water deficit on the photosynthesis and transpiration of the vine in the quality of the grape. The most relevant contribution of the thesis was collected in 4 scientific articles published in journals with a high impact index.

Currently, I am a researcher in the Research Group on Biology of Plants in Mediterranean Conditions since 2005 and INAGEA (Institute for Agro-environmental Research and Water Economics), since its creation in 2016. In addition, I am on the staff of the Department of Biology as a Contracted Professor Doctor and I teach in subjects of the Degree in Agri-Food Engineering of the UIB.

My main lines of research are about the biology and physiology of the vine and its responses under different abiotic stresses, as well as aspects about the management of irrigation and its effects on the quality of the grape; Effects of alternative systems of soil management on soil biological activity, soil-root interaction, and their involvement in plant physiology and fruit production and quality; Genetic improvement in vine.

I am currently a Principal Investigator of a European project (VITISMART76) and a National Plan project (AGL-2017-, 83738-C3-1-R). Previously, I have been Principal Investigator of two research projects of the State R + D + Plan I (RTA-2005-132, AGL2014-54201-C4-1-R), in force), and a regional project (AAEE002-09) and I have participated as a research staff in 12 more. As a result of this research activity, I am the author of 41 research works collected in books and journals. Of these, 32 are published in journals with an impact index, of which I am the first author of 9 of them. I am also the author and co-author of more than 100 papers presented at national and international congresses.
